MCP Setup

Configure your MCP client to connect to Audaxic's memory server.

tip

Recommended for CLI users

If you use Claude Code CLI, Codex CLI, or OpenCode CLI, we recommend installing our plugins instead of manually configuring MCP. They automatically save your conversations and inject relevant memories into your prompts - zero manual setup.

Manual MCP configuration below is still fully supported.

Server Configuration

FieldValue
TypeHTTP (Streamable HTTP)
URLhttps://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp
AuthenticationBearer token (your API key)

Claude Desktop

Add to your Claude Desktop config (claude_desktop_config.json):

{
"mcpServers": {
"audaxic-memory": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"mcp-remote",
"https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp",
"--header",
"Authorization: Bearer ak_your_api_key_here"
]
}
}
}

Note: Requires Node.js installed for npx to work.

Cursor

Add to your Cursor MCP settings (.cursor/mcp.json or global settings):

{
"mcpServers": {
"audaxic-memory": {
"url": "https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ak_your_api_key_here"
}
}
}
}

Windsurf

Add to your Windsurf MCP configuration:

{
"mcpServers": {
"audaxic-memory": {
"serverUrl": "https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ak_your_api_key_here"
}
}
}
}

OpenCode

Add to your opencode.json:

{
"mcp": {
"audaxic-memory": {
"type": "remote",
"url": "https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ak_your_api_key_here"
}
}
}
}

OpenCode Plugin (Auto-save and Auto-retrieve)

Automatically save conversation facts and inject context into prompts. MCP is not needed if this plugin is installed.

npm install -g @audaxic/memory-opencode
npx @audaxic/memory-opencode setup

Add to opencode.json:

{
"plugin": ["@audaxic/memory-opencode"]
}

See OpenCode Plugin for details.

Claude Code Plugin (Auto-save and Auto-retrieve)

Automatically save conversation facts and inject context into prompts. MCP is not needed if this plugin is installed.

npx @audaxic/memory-claude install

This will do everything automatically (no manual steps):

  • Prompt for your Audaxic API key (saved to ~/.config/audaxic/config.json)
  • Copy the plugin to ~/.claude/skills/audaxic-memory/
  • Configure the Audaxic MCP server (.mcp.json with your API key)

More details are available on the Claude Code Plugin page.

Claude Code

Add to your Claude Code config (~/.claude.json or .mcp.json in project root):

{
"mcpServers": {
"audaxic-memory": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ak_your_api_key_here"
}
}
}
}

Or add via CLI:

claude mcp add --transport http audaxic-memory https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer ak_your_api_key_here"

OpenAI Codex Plugin (Auto-save and Auto-retrieve)

Automatically save conversation facts and inject context into prompts. MCP is not needed if this plugin is installed.

npx @audaxic/memory-codex install

This will do everything automatically (no manual steps):

  • Prompt for your Audaxic API key (saved to ~/.config/audaxic/config.json)
  • Copy hook scripts to ~/.codex/audaxic/
  • Register hooks in ~/.codex/hooks.json

More details are available on the Codex Plugin page.

OpenAI Codex

Add to your ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.audaxic-memory]
url = "https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "AUDAXIC_API_KEY"

Set the environment variable:

export AUDAXIC_API_KEY="ak_your_api_key_here"

Or add via CLI:

codex mcp add audaxic-memory --url https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp --bearer-token-env-var AUDAXIC_API_KEY

Note: Codex uses TOML configuration (not JSON). CLI and Desktop share the same config file.

Testing the Connection

You can test your MCP connection using curl:

curl -X POST https://memory-mcp.audaxic.com/mcp \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer ak_your_api_key_here" \
-H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
-d '{
"jsonrpc": "2.0",
"id": 1,
"method": "initialize",
"params": {
"protocolVersion": "2025-03-26",
"capabilities": {},
"clientInfo": {"name": "test", "version": "1.0"}
}
}'

Expected response:

{
"result": {
"protocolVersion": "2025-03-26",
"capabilities": {"tools": {"listChanged": true}},
"serverInfo": {"name": "audaxic-memory", "version": "1.0.0"}
},
"jsonrpc": "2.0",
"id": 1
}
